One coast, two mountain roads
The Aragua coast is reached by two mountain roads that leave Maracay and cross Henri Pittier National Park. One leads to Ocumare de la Costa, La Ciénaga and Cata; the other winds down to Choroní and Puerto Colombia, where small boats leave for Chuao and other beaches.
There is no coastal road between the two areas, so each one works best as its own trip. We'll help you pick the one that fits your dates and your group.
Mountain culture in Colonia Tovar
High in the hills of Tovar municipality sits Colonia Tovar, founded in 1843 by German immigrants. Cool weather, half-timbered houses, strawberries, sausages and craft beer make it a classic mountain weekend for couples and families.
Birdwatching in Henri Pittier
Henri Pittier National Park protects cloud forest and coastal woodland with more than 500 recorded bird species. It is home to the sorocuá, the trogon behind our name and logo. We arrange birdwatching outings with local guides, subject to availability.

Which Aragua destinations does Sorocua cover?
We work with Ocumare de la Costa, La Ciénaga, Cata, Choroní, Chuao, Colonia Tovar and birdwatching outings in Henri Pittier National Park. Availability depends on your dates and on local operators.
Can I combine Choroní and Ocumare in one trip?
Yes, but there's no coastal road between them: you have to head back toward Maracay and take the other road. That's why most travelers give each area its own days. We can put the plan together for you on WhatsApp.
Do packages include transfers from Maracay or Caracas?
It depends on the package. Some include local transfers, while others quote them separately based on where you start. Every quote lists exactly what's included.
How much does an Aragua package cost?
Prices depend on dates, lodging and group size. When a package has a published rate you'll see it as “From”; otherwise, ask for a quote on WhatsApp and we'll send you the details.
When is the best time to visit the Aragua coast?
You can go year-round. The dry season, roughly December to April, usually brings clearer days; in the rainy season sea and road conditions can change. Carnival, Easter week, August and December are busy, so it pays to ask ahead.
